A UPS will work....but you won't get much runtime out of it. Mine for my computer is only good for 5 minutes. The longer life ones are big and very expensive.
Another alternative is to buy a "quickstart" portable
12v battery (COSTCO has one for $49.) and a 12v to 120v "inverter" (Radio Shack sells a good one). This set up gives me a good 4 to 5 hours.
