The size and weight of batteries to run a CPAP machine would be inconvenient to say the best. Portable operation would probably be difficult. However, if you look through the uninterruptible power supplies for computers, a 500 VA unit would power the CPAP only for about 15 minutes (probably less than 5 with a humidifier, based on the specs on my unit). This unit weight 13 pounds.
Although DC (battery) would be more efficient, the commercial components would take a bit of electrical knowledge to hook up - not very different than plugging into your car lighter outlet, however. Most Ham Radio operators have done this many times, and a local one could probably help.
Solar is practical, albeit expensive. Again, I'd find someone local and make sure to discuss whether or not you would be using a humidifier. In all reality, it would be a relatively small solar panel, but would approach the cost of your CPAP machine.
