Mark, were her events positional only? I've seen similar situations if a patient is in the supine position and then turns to their side and has uneventful REM.

If her events were non-positional, that is certainly a strange scenario. The only thing I can think of, again, is it's position related. For example, did she maybe go into REM in a prone-like position which will (as I'm sure you know) more than likely help maintain a patent airway.
