Try an autotitraing machine such as Resmed autoset T.
Another suggestion, anecdotal, but works for me, an apnea sufferer. Lying on my left side during CPAP seems to reduce retention of gas--my guess is that this has to do with anatomy of stomach; lying on left side allows gas to escape more easily via the esophogus and mouth. Of course, it gets pretty annoying lying on one side all the time.
I also think that putting a slight head-up incline in the bed, e.g., by raising front feet on wooden blocks as one might do for reflux precausions, helps for the same reason, by allowing rising gas to escape instead of being retained in the upper curvature of stomach. Again, this is anecdotal, but might be worth a try if a patient is willing to experiment and understands that it might or might not help.
