I have also grinded my teeth on occasion in my sleep and it sure hurts the following day. It feels like you whole entire mouth is one great big toothache. My dentist says that people often grind their teeth in there sleep due to stress/anxiety. He suggested a mouth guard. You can buy these mouth guards in your local drug store usually but you better bet would be to have your Dentist make up a pair that spefically are designed to fit the mold of his own natural teeth. They feel akward at night to sleep with but it sure does help.

Hope this gave you some answers.
