I have been reading postings about the above condition. Since 1996 I have had approx 8 attack episodes to this date. It's extremely frightening and even though I try to relax, I get really weak and shaky. I also one time collapsed without passing out in someones yard. The first 2 times I experienced while sleeping to being awakened gasping for air and this loud/deep roar came out of me. It was the only sound I could make. My throat closes up anywhere from approx 1 minute or longer. I've also experienced it during my waking hours as well as the fact that I have come close to passing out. I actually collapsed on a neighbors lawn and almost lost conciousness after one particular attack.

Are theer "any" kind of medications to help prevent this? It's gotten to the point at times where now I'm afraid to go to sleep. It's has got to be th worst and most awful experience.

My PCP has told me that I have muscle spasms in the neck. I further researched because all week my throat feels tight and I cac't get any sleep. I also read that this condition can lead to death. Let me just say that I'm already a basket case and full of anxiety. It's done it's fair share on my health over the years.

Do you have any special or particular place that you can recommend to have the check out? At times now I'm afraid to go to sleep for fear that could happen. Also, are there any certain medications that I can look into and have my fact when setting up an appiointment.

Your help is so much appreciated. Thanks! Heidi
