have a friend who has come to me looking for advice. she's sleeping 10-12 hrs a day, has no apnea or plmd. has been seen by two sleep doc's, one said possibly narcolepsy, another thought it might be psychological. they were both psychiatrist. she's had mslt's (mean sleep 6.5 min) and mwt(mean 7 min). i've known this girl a long time, seen her in just about every kind of condition..happy, sad, ecstatic...intoxicated...she does not have narcolepsy. she's also while awake, almost hyperactive. while discussing this with her she happened to tell me she also had low blood pressure. i asked her to monitor it for a couple of weeks and see what it looked like. her diastolic(think that's the lower one..never can remember) ran in the high 40's and 50's. my question is does anyone know of any papers done on the effects of hypotension on somnia and sleep cycles.
any info would be appreciated
