I have them too. I began having them in 1993, after surgery to my throat paralyzed one of my vocal chords. Even though they've told me that I won't die--that as soon as I pass out, I'll begin breathing again, I get terrified. There's something about not being able to breath that terrifies me and my whole family. Last time, my husband took me to the emergency room after I had five attacks in one weekend during a severe cold.

I'd love to correspond with others who have this problem. I've never heard of anyone but me.
