Be careful about being disappointed with yourself for not being able to get out of bed early-- especially if you have been diagnosed with narcolepsy. Along with your treatment with medication ideally, you should establis a regular sleep schedule. The most important part about the schedule is getting up at the same time every day. This means weekends too. So pick the ideal wake up time for you and then stick to it. You should know that all humans seem to suffer a dip in alertness in the mid to late afternoon hours ( given a "regular" bed at 10-11 pm up at 7-8am sleep schedule). It might be helpful to keep this in mind when scheduling classes, planning to drive etc or other times when peak alertness is optional. If sleepiness persists you should
let your doctor know so adjustment of treatment or further testing can considered. Good luck. You may want to search the SleepNet home page for the support groups. It is really helpful to be connected in some way to others with the same challenges.
