Sounds like one of the classic symptoms of Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), which I also suffer from. You might want to take an assessment test to see if a sleep medicine professional can help.

My leg pain and severe cramps decreased dramatically after the appropriate prescription drug treatment was instituted.
