CPAP and Nasal Blockage

Posted by John Chesbrough on December 08, 1997 at 23:08:00:

After about three months on CPAP, I am having continuing nasal blockage problems. I used Beconase (beclomethasone) nasal spray for one month and noted no improvement. non prescription nasal sprays seem to help, but there are warnings against continuing use. I tried a passover humidifier, and still suffered blockage. Through out this I was removing the mask in my sleep, and was getting perhaps 25% usage on the CPAP.
I have now switched to using a full nose and mouth mask which seems to function, since I can wear it for about 6 to 8 hours per night. Although I now sleep longer, (about 8 hours), I wake up tired. So I feel that I am making no progress on fixing my severe obstructive sleep apnea.
Any suggestions please?
