I am extremely thankful for your quick response to my question. I suppose "swallowing" air may be more definitive. During the period, between just beginning sleep and not quite there, I will awaken. I notice my throat contract, just as if I were gulping or swallowing, if you will. This continues, through the night, until I awaken with a tremendous amount of air in the stomach. A chin strap was prescribed, but that hasn't helped.
On another interesting note, while desperately surfing the net, for some alternative, I ran across a site, "SleepNet." There is a device, a DPAP, which reputes a non continuous and/or bi level air delivery. The device apparently monitors the body's need for certain air requirements. Are you familiar with this? I did request information, but seek a "non bias" oppinion.
This unwanted sleep pattern has affected me for 25 to 30 years or more, so I am desperate! I've read so many questions and answers, from this terrific forum, and identify with so many. I'm not alone!
Again, thank you - Rick E
