Sleep Apnia, Heart Problems and Nighttime Urination

Posted by Jeff Welch on December 10, 1997 at 21:08:46:

One unexpected benefit of CPAP treatment I've had is that I no longer have to get up to go to the bathroom several times a night. The longer I wear my CPAP, the fewer times I have to get up.

Some nights I don't have to get up at all, if I can wear my mask for a good stretch.

I understand that one of the reasons for "nocturia" (frequent nighttime urination) with OSA is heart dysfunction. Having had OSA untreated for a number of years, I'm wondering about the possibility of permanent heart/valve damage. Any info?
