UVP Surgery and playing wind instruments

I am a semi-professional trumpet player with obstructive sleep apnea. I planned to have the UVP surgery to correct my apnea until I heard about all the problems with this procedure. Does anyone have any idea what the probability would be that this operation would impair my ability to seal off the airway between my throat and nose, thus preventing me from EVER playing the horn again?
