Do these attacks only occur during the period of time when first waking, or in other environments (work, public places, etc.)?

I have experienced situations you spoke about, as I'm sure many have. Nightmares, night terrors, unpleasant dreams, etc. I need to remind myself there are regions of the subconscious that must surface. Like it or not, we need dreams for survival. There are times I'm terrified to go to sleep. Stress seems to compound my dream patterns, which rob me of much needed sleep.

I would hope you can find someone, a therapist, good friend (who listens,) to talk with. I remembered something GOOD from a T.V. show line, "dreams are the solutions to unanswered questions."

Good luck, Marie, and know you're not all alone out there.
