Studies have shown that there is a link between sleep apnea and high blood pressure. They have also shown that blood pressure usually comes back down once treated for the disorder. CPAP used properly is the quickest most effective treatment. A UPPP would also help if the site of the obstruction is only in the soft palate. However it is most common for there to be an obstruction at the base of the tongue which is not helped by a UPPP and in that case there would probably be much less or no benefit to decreasing blood pressure.
