You are wise to be conservative about UPPP. I recommend that you fully exhaust the possibilities of CPAP, which is noninvasive, and a fully reversible undertaking, before you opt for surgery.
I have had patients in the sleep lab who have undergone UPPP and still required CPAP to effectively address their OSA problem.
