Infant with narcolepsy???

Posted by Toni Stansfield on December 14, 1997 at 19:38:08:

My young grandson, 20 months old, on two occasions recently has fallen asleep standing up, as though a light was switched off. One episode took place when I asked him to pick up his bottle from the coffee table before he went home with his mother. He walked to the table and stood there. When I looked at him, he was standing with his eyes closed, totally alseep. This was the second episode during the evening, and the first time I had ever noticed anything unusual. However, my son said that he had found him on the ground asleep a few days previously, during the daytime. My daughter-in-law seemed to be very annoyed when I suggested he should be taken straight away to the children's Hospital. She seemed to think I was being an alarmist, and that he had only been affected by the heat. (We are having a heat wave in Sydney). What do you think I should do?

Alarmed and concerned Grandmother.
