Heart beats a little faster during sleeptime

Posted by Jau Ho on December 17, 1997 at 22:22:37:

I am a 18 year old male and I recently graduated from high school. I been having problem sleeping ever since early November and i have tried several methods to solve this problem such as excercising regularly every evening, drinking warm milk right before sleep time and recently i am practicing meditation. But still, I have not been able to sleep well and sometimes I am still awake at 3am (around two or three times a week) and occassionally 5am. I have consulted with my family doctor twice and he said that it was stress from the the examination that i was going to take before graduating.I decided to post this message for help after the exam was over for one week. After practicing meditation for about one week I was able to relax myself but my heart keeps beating a little bit faster than usual during before bedtime and that keeps me tossing and turning for a good few hours in my bed. I also realized that i am so sensitive to noises that if I am awaken by noises ,my heart will start beating faster and i will not be able to sleep again. Sometimes my heart beats a little faster even during the day but I doubt that i have any heart problems since i can perform exercise every day. Please advice.
