Posted by A.G.P. on December 27, 1997 at 09:48:18:In November I was diagnosed through a sleep study as having moderately severe apneas and hypopneas disturbing my sleep. I was started on a CPAP machine with nose pillows.
My sleep has improved tremendously in the two weeks since I've had the machine (and so has my daytime routine). However, I am experiencing two problems which concern me.
#1 - I am radically less tired than before, however, I find myself drifting off to sleep at work for very brief periods... a few minutes or less. (Previously, I might fall asleep and remain asleep for half an hour or longer.) Will this last vestige daytime sleepiness eventually go away, or am a stuck with this forever?
#2 - The nose pillows are causing daily irritation to the inside of my nose. This is in spite of a lubricant being applied to the silicone pads every other day. A smaller nose pillow might not work for me. Has anyone had this irritation problem, and short of using a mask instead, how did you solve it?
