Humidifier Question

Posted by Jeff Welch on December 31, 1997 at 16:58:09:

I recently got a Fisher-Paykel HC-100 heated humidifier with the HC-325 starter kit. The procedure at my HMO (Group Health) is to have you rent the equipment for 1 month, then purchase if effective.

The directions that come with the HC-100 heater unit say that the HC-325 humidifier chambers are to be used for only 1 month, then discarded. It mentions that the HC-300 chamber (washable) is for permanent use.

Now:

1) Why the heck should I purchase a starter kit that includes disposable chambers;

2) Can I expect my HMO to pay for a steady supply of HC-325 disposable chambers (1 per month);

3) Should I tell the HMO I need an HC-300 "permanent" humidifier chamber?

4) The HMO isn't returning my calls on this issue at the moment--should I contact the manufacturer for some backup?

5) My recently purchased Sullivan V Elite says that it should only be used with HC-325 humidifier chambers--are the folks at Sullivan talking to the folks at Fisher-Paykel?
