Trach is usually an easy operation. Most of the difficulty can come with keeping it clean, etc. My question is you mention central sleep apnea can develop. What was the diagnosis, obstructive sleep apnea, or central sleep apnea? I do not think a trach will help someone with true central sleep apnea. Sounds like an interesting case but need more information.
