Medication as alternatives to CPAP

Posted by H Van Cott on January 04, 1998 at 14:13:27:

I am unable to tolerate CPAP and am interested in other alternatives. Currently, I'm using over-the counter benedryl and xanax nightly and find I sleep quite well and am less tired during the day.
What are the long term effects of medications such as this? What is the effect of medication on sleep quality as measured, say, in sleep studied?
