hypoglycemia

Posted by Judy on January 05, 1998 at 20:46:23:

Can hypoglycemia cause one to wake up in the middle of the night feeling thirsty and hot?For about 10 months I was waking up at night feeling thirsty and hot.No anxiety, though sometimes I would have very strong palpations.I would also occasionally snore, which I never did before.Sometimes I would feel so hot at night I would sleep nude with the window open ,even though
it was 30 degrees out and there was snow on the
ground.Sometimes my face would be red when I got up.I stopped having periods,2 yrs ago, at 39 yr.I
am on HRT and had my doseage of Estradiolincreased
to see if that would help but it didn't.I went to
see an Endocrinologist but the only thing he tested me for was to see if I had low GH levels.During the test in which he took my Blood
glucose down to 15 for most of the 2 hours I felt
hot and thirsty.I had the same confusion thatI get
whenever I eat carbohydrates.I did have a low BG
of 25 during a 5 hr.GTT when I was 17,but my doctors were not concerned about it because I ate so much they didn't think it could be possible for
it to drop low on its own. They did the GTT because I was repeatedly passing out.My doctors have refused to test my for anything else so I have tryed to experiment on my own with avoiding carbohyrates.
I have been sleeping wonderfully, for about 3 wks, on days when I don't eat carbs. Also I was referred
to an oncology surgeon to have a fine needle biopsy on some enlarged lymph nodes under my arm pits and in my groin but the doctor said that they are only 1 cm.and not big enough to biopsy and I should just have them looked at every year.If they were cancerous would that make me feel hot and thirsty at night?

would that possibly have made me feel hot at
Night?
