Nov. of 1996 my Left arm and hand started to fall asleep at night and whenever I bent them such as when I was on the phone. My doctor sent me for a nerve conduction study which showed decreased conduction and diagnoised me with carpal tunnel syndrome.I was waking me up at night a lot but for some reason it got better but my hands still stayed numb sometimes in the day and I noticed the strength in my hands declining so I went ahead and had the carpal tunnel release surgery .However my hand still
occasionally gets numb, though not as often, and my pinkie and the side of my hand below the pinkie still gets numb often so I think my doctor misdiagnoised me because with carpal tunnel the little finger and side of hand below it are uneffected. I think I may have been having numbness for some other reason ,maybe from hypoglycemia. carpal tunnel though is very common and numbness at night and awaking are typical symptoms. The surgery is quite simple .
