Sullivan "Bubble" Mask/Dry Skin Solutions?

Posted by Ed Poyneer on January 08, 1998 at 13:29:15:

I have been on CPAP therapy for almost 10 years now.
For the last two or three years, I have been using the Sullivan "Bubble" mask, with the "old" style of frame (adjustable by heating with hot water or hot air).
I have had problems with excessively dry skin for probably 15 years.
My problem is that the skin under the triangular footprint of the mask is always much drier than the rest of my face, and has a tendency to peel excessively, almost like dandruff on my face. This is not really aesthetically pleasing, and the only thing I have been able to do to keep down the peeling is to scrub my face, about every other day, with what amounts to one of those nylon net dish scrubbers.
I'm curious if anyone else has this combination of problems, and if so, have you had any better luck at dealing with it?
Don't suggest "nose pillows," I've been that route already, and they just screwed up my nasal passages.
