Dan,

As a CPAP user for over 2 years there a copule things that you should do before retiring at night.

1. Wash your face with soap and water to get rid of any sweat buildup during the day

2. Wash the mask with soapy water and dry thoroughly. This also will get rid of sweat from the night before and give you a better seal.

With regard to sores on the bridge of the nose, in Australia we have a product call 'Bepanthen' which is an Antseptic Cream with vitamin B5. Apply this twice a day and it will heal up in a couple of days.

I suggest that you put the foam pad back on your mask.

Hope this helps
