A Very Distressed New CPAP User

Posted by John B. Todd on January 18, 1998 at 16:58:32:

Help! I'm having a terrible time with my new CPAP Device. I'm so discouraged that I'm about to fling it out a window. I've gone over and over in my mind as to just what it is that distresses me so. I'm used to masks, so that's not it. My Sinuses ran like a faucet, and I got Deconamine for that. But now, it is the constant high pressure (13Cm) draft of cold air that keeps me awake and on edge. I've got friends on CPAP, but they're going on 8-10Cm. Mine feels like a tornado blowing in my head all night. The worst of it is the cold temperature of the air, even though I pull the hose under the covers. Is there an air warmer that I can buy somewhere and use? The other aspect of it is the awful feeling in my Sinuses. Any help on these two points? I've gotton so that I can't stand to see the night come, knowing what lays ahead...

Very Discouraged,

John Todd
