circulation problems while I am sleeping

Posted by Karen Barnett on January 19, 1998 at 13:56:09:

I am awakened almost every night with some part of my body asleep (numb). If I am lying on my back it is both my arms and up my neck to the back of my head. If I am on my side the arm on that side will be effected. Same is true on the other side. I have tried sleeping on my stomach, but whenever I do that it is even worse. I guess that the worst possible posistion I have found is on my back with my arms above my head. Then both arms and hands are completely numb.
About 10 years ago I ask a physician about this whenever it was first starting and he just made the comment usually you didn't see this until someone was much older than me. (I was 30 at the time). Does anyone have any idea as to what is going on? I should also mention that I don't have any of the daytime symptoms that I've read that would possibly indicated carpal tunnel syndrome.
