I'm curious... I have a similar problem.

I swell up constantly and am on diuretics. (Actually, that is how they found the apnea - in a roundabout way).

I have pulmonary hypertension and when I read up on it, one of the symptoms was dependent edema (swelling). I have found that when the swelling is more severe I have trouble breathing and getting a good night's sleep. The pulonary hypertension is
*probably* caused by many years of untreated sleep apnea.

I used steroids once for swelling of an abcessed tooth and found that I slept better (pre-CPAP), felt better, etc.

Have you had a pulmonary test yet?
