The only "trick" I've ever tried that works to get me to sleep is this: Visualize the number 100 in your head. Concentrate on it and really see the number. Then do the same for 99 and so on backwards to 1, making sure you picture each successive number in your head. This usually works for me the first time through, but sometimes itl takes two or three repetitions. The idea is to fill your mind only with the numbers so no other thoughts can keep you awake.
