Its hard to say how much better you should feel, because that depends on the severity of your apnea to begin with. The fact that you are seeing some reduction in sleepiness, dream awareness sounds good. Regarding your remaining fatigue, make sure you are getting proper nutrition, and exercise within the parameters your doctor specifies for you. If all that is good, and you continue to have fatigue, you may need to have different pressures on your CPAP. You might also ask your doctor/home care dealer about DPAP or automatic CPAP which senses vibrations in your airway and adjusts pressures upward gradually until snoring stops, then periodically tries to reduce the pressures back down. It is much more comfortable and more effective than CPAP in some patients. Some patients can't tolerate high CPAP pressures and use BiPAP, which has higher pressures for inhalation and exhalation -- also much more comfortable and effective for some patients than CPAP.
The Phantom mask is made by SleepNet Corp. (not affiliated with
sleepnet.com, I don't believe). The mfr. phone is 800-ABC-DPAP which is 800-222-3727. The phantom is a one-size-fits-all mask that goes over the nose. It is very pliable and soft. Most patients like it but a few find it overwhelming, especially if they are claustrophobic. The Respironics Monarch is also very soft and doesn't even touch your nose except at the nostrils. I have used it on a few patients that didn't like the standard Respironics masks and they liked it well.
The ADAM circuit by Nellcor-Puritan Bennett also doesn't touch your nose except at the nostrils, but a few patients find it uncomfortable because it is inserted a quarter inch to half inch
into the nose. It seals great, though, and is comforable for most patients.I'm sure you can find something you like before it gets too frustrating.
Let me know if I can help. If you need to know company addresses, etc., e-mail me and I can get that for you.
