I know exactly what you're going thru - support and empathy. I've recently taken to using a homeopathic medecine based on Valerian - try your local big-time health-food shop. I exceed the dosage and take it with a good stiff whisky!
When I've been trying to get to sleep, I've disciplined myself to stop trying - sometimes, I've gone for 36-40 hours without sleep... but the payoff comes when I do finally make - usually 24 hours too late!
Hang in there: the hardest thing to do is avoid worrying about it.
