I agree with the Sandman that it could be some sort of circadian rhythm disorder, which can be corrected, however, you should also look at some of your "habits". Are you consuming caffeine prior to attempting sleep? It will stay in your system for up to 8 hours and may inhibit your ability to get to sleep. What sort of activities do you do before going to sleep? Excercise or stimulating activities prior to going to sleep will also have a negative effect in your attempts to fall asleep. Alcohol consumption may help you fall asleep, but sleep is lighter, subject to more frequent awakenings and you would wake in the morning feeling groggy. Anyway, try to create a relaxing environment prior to sleep, low light levels, read, watch TV, take a warm bath or shower..........
