Dear Katie,

Back in late September I picked up a virulent flu virus which went to my head rather than the usual chest. From that point my sleep was dramatically affected.

While I have no difficulty moving into the sleep state once there my body will twitch etc and I will wake up straight away. Also, another method is for an explosion to occur in my head or a noise which will also wake me up.

Some times this pattern will continue all night. Other times I may get a few hours between the constant waking up.

Unfortunately, I have had to resort to alcohol, drugs etc.. At least this way I will know that I will receive three or four hours.

While people may say it is stress I am certain it is to do with this virus. I experienced a similar thing 4 years ago for three days - exactly the same symptoms. Then the mucous etc came through the nose throat etc..This time though nothing happened and the virus stayed. Four months on I am feeling pretty fed up. How has the chicken pox affected you?
