Depending on the type of CPAP unit you have, you might be able to deal with the "tornado" by having your machine programmed with the "ramp up" feature available on some machines, like the Respironics and Sullivan units. The machines usually have ramp-ups in set increments: taking 5, 10, and 20 minutes to full prescribed air pressure. Mine has been set up, but I hardly ever use it, because I'm so used to having full force, right from the start. I originally started out at 10cm pressure, but am currently at 13cm pressure.
