I *just* went through this, so I can totally relate. I also have the Goldseal mask and took the foam spacer off and got a sore between my eyes. It took me about two weeks to get rid of the sore -- using Neosporin helps. I have had to fiddle with the straps endlessly and still have marks on my face in the morning sometimes because I have to tighten it up quite a bit. The foam spacer, I've discovered, does indeed help - the trick is getting the pressure even between that and the mask so you don't get a sore. I guess I haven't helped you too much but I wish you the best of luck - and you're not alone!!
