I had UPPP surgery on Jan 27th 5 days ago. As Sue mentioned above, the surgery is fine it's the sore throat and aching jaw that is painful. My analogy is like being in a Dental Chair for many hours as my jaw and neck are really sore from being forced open during surgery. (Blended ice smoothies with fruit and protein are great calories, stay away from dairy, too much saliva)

One word of advice. Once you start feeling better after day 5 or so, don't push it. I'm a Little League baseball coach and went to our first practice today and tonight I'm paying for the talking. I'll stick to E-Mail for now.
