I am a sleep technologist here in the Denver Area. As far as I know the only studies done on somnoplasty were based on surgeries done on pigs. This medical procedure was approved by the FDA probably under some sort of proprietary secrecy which means that the data gathered is not yet available to the general public. Pigs were used I believe because we have similar upper airway structures. However as of this date I have not seen any hard data done on human subjects that shows me that sleep apnea or snoring are affected in any positive way by this procedure. Be careful and make sure to get further medical advice from a board certified sleep doctor.
