Sleep Paralysis

Posted by AMy Conger on November 14, 1997 at 01:28:10:

If you experience it, you know what "sleep paralysis" means!

I just read through some old posts and I felt I needed to write to let you all know that it doesn't have to be terrifying, it is perfectly safe (providing you are otherwise healthy) and that it can lead to really neat stuff like lucid dreaming and out-of-body experiences (aka astral projection).

Other sensations associated with the awake-but-unable-to-move feeling: total body buzzing, hearing sounds (ringing, clicking, roaring -- sometimes very loud), feeling there is someone else in the room, putting your hands through the wall or other impossible stuff.

There are many resources (some negative, some positive) on the web and in print. I encourage you all to investigate.

If anyone likes, I can relate my special technique for taking control and coming out of SP calm and relaxed.

I am fascinated by this subject and am happy to discuss it with those who write me back (here or by email).

Sweet Dreams!

AMy
