Among college students, the commonest problem with sleep is probably voluntary sleep restriction--staying up too late studying or partying, then getting up "too early" for classes, so that the person will feel sleepier during the day, perhaps napping. A "cross-sectional" picture of your classmates' sleeping habits to identify such sleep restriction and attempt to relate it to daytime drowsiness could be accomplished with a very simple questionnaire, basically asking each (anonymous) subject when they went to sleep last night, when they woke up this morning, whether there were any periods of being awake during last night and if so, how long, how sleepy (on a Likert-type scale) they feel right now (specify time of day) and whether they have napped today (if class is later in day) or expect to nap today. This could be done and probably analyzed in less than an hour, and might well yield a positive finding.
