Levels of Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Can anyone give me an idea of what are the characteristics or values that determine whether one has "Moderate" , or "Severe" sleep apnea.
I was told that I had an "apnea episode" every 30 seconds during the sleep test before the CPAP was used. This sounds like a high level to me. I would appreciate any information on this subject.
