There are several factors that determine severity of sleep apnea. One is how often. Every 30 seconds is very often. Other factors are how much you desaturate in oxygen and the number and length of arousal's. So all three must be taken into consideration however I would guess that someone who has an episode every 30 seconds would probably be in the severe category.
