Posted by Ernie on January 31, 1998 at 16:46:35:I am a thirty year old narcoleptic. I have been taking 25 mg of ritalin a day. for almost a year, this drug has done wonders. Recently however the effects of the ritalin have been nill. My doctor increased the dose to 40 mg a day. this did not prevent the sleep attacks, in fact it just made me nervous. My doctor wants to try and desensitise me from the ritalin by two weeks with out taking it.
I would like a second opinon on this, does this sound prudent? won't I just resenitize? is this what I can expect from all the medications available? I am wondering why bother?thank-you
