Sleep apena patient

Posted by Doug White on February 01, 1998 at 07:39:12:

I have had 2 sleep studies done and have been placed on a cpap and then a bipap. I have had different maskes fitted to my face and different valves placed on the equipment to assist me in my breathing while trying to sleep. I also travel about 50 % of the time on my current job and if there is a breathing device I can tolerate, it would need to very portable and have dual voltages for travel outside of the US.
The doctor said that I quit breathing 26 times in 8 hours and the longest was 57 seconds.
When wearing the breathing mask and finally falling asleep, I wake up in a panic and feel like I'm suffocating. I walk on a treadmill for 50 min. at 3.6 mph, at least 4 times per week, as soon as I get home from work. I am usually done working out by 6:00pm and go to bed around 10:00pm.
I've decided to go to a different doctor, as the one I've been seeing will not discuss surgery with me and has not given me any reasons why he wouldn't consider surgery.
The lack of sleep is really effecting my work and I'm affraid of losing my job.
Doug
