I do not know anyone who is treating or using hormones in conjunction with cpap to treat OSA. You say it reduces the swelling. Swelling occurs because the CPAP machine is not set at the proper level causing you to still snore and have apnea or, leaks in mask or mouth, or not using the machine as prescribed. After using CPAP correctly for a few weeks all swelling will usually disappear. So the first night you go with out it you will sleep a little better than you did before using it and quickly the swelling comes back and you are where you started again. I would avoid the hormones. No data saying it is effective and who knows the long term side effects. If the machine is setup and used properly the swelling will go away on its own. Your doctor is right, with your number of events Surgery may not be a cure but it may allow you to use a lower pressure on the CPAP machine which may help you tolerate it.
