i have read about this elsewhere on the net. It is to do with the process of sleep where your body is immobilised and many times suffers do actually believe there is someone sitting on their chest. For some reason suffers are partly conscious and often has feelings of paralysis and suffocation. I can't be more helpful than that - except i think i read this information on a hauntings site, where someone was explaining why many people feel haunted in their beds. Hope that is helpful to you.
