There was a study in which a light was placed on the back of the knee. It was found that this light helped to reset the biological clock. This has thrown a curve in the theories of sleep deprivation and light therapy as up until now it was believed that light entered through the eye to the hypothalamus (center for alertness & wakefulness), and there helped to reset the biological clock.
According to my sleep specialist, this is in the preliminary stages and not much else is known about it at this time. He advised to keep an eye open for future information on this.
I saw an article in Tampa Tribune, but unfortunately I forgot to take that copy with me when I left Tampa. If I find a more indepth article or sleep site with information on it, I will post again.
