Have you seen a sleep specialist? If not please try to do so. You may have a sleep disorder.
Not being able to wake up was the beginning of the diagnosis of Atypical Narcolepsy With Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. The doctors found it hard to believe I had narcolepsy, but the sleep tests were irrefutable. The Delayed Sleep Phase , simply described in layman terms, is where you go to bed later at night and arise later in the morning. It can feel as if you were out all night Friday or Saturday night and had to sleep in all the next day, only this occurs daily for some of us.
Staying up all night will only increase your sleep deprivation, and could possibly exacerbate the over sleeping. I know for I was difficult to awaken since in college; resisted sleep; often went for days without sleep by going to college & working 2 jobs & doing my internship. This could possibly have made my condition worse because I went without treatment for so long.
See a doctor. Find out the cause and go from there. But by all means do it while you're still young and have some measure of regaining control.sincerely, BRaymond
