My neighbour, who is otherwise pleasant enough, has a dog that barks occasionally in the middle of the night. Removing the dog seems not to be an option. How can I train myself simply not to hear this particular sound when it occurs? The barking is not prolonged - only a few earsplitting yelps, which does the job.
